Our Story

Rivers of Ink began with Stewart, who started tattooing in Bristol back in 2008. He opened Silver St Tattoos in 2013, and the studio quickly grew.

Over the years, the team expanded—Erich and Lia joined in 2015, and in 2016, Clo came on board, bringing piercing skills and fresh energy to the family business.

Today, Rivers of Ink is home to a tight-knit crew of artists, each with their own style and specialisms—but united by a shared focus: making sure every customer leaves feeling seen, respected, and thrilled with their experience.

Stewart co-owns Rivers of Ink Studios with his partner Emily. He has been a tattooist and body piercer for around 20 years. During that time he has worked in various different studios before setting up his own studio in 2013.

Stew enjoys many different styles but particularly enjoys black work, graphic art, traditional, neo-traditional, horror and Japanese. He loves skulls of any kind and gets grumpy if he misses out on a particularly gruesome tattoo idea.

It has always been important to Stew that a tattoo & piercing studio should be a fun and safe place for everyone. He has built up a team of people which reflect this, and who strive to ensure that the studio always offers our customers a great experience.

Stew is a very experienced piercer that can advise on and provide some of the more unusual and exotic piercings. He is fully trained in microdermal implants, surface bars and the more private piercings.

No matter what, Stew always looks after his customers. He enjoys having a good laugh while you are in the chair, setting the world to rights and doing all that he can to provide a fun and enjoyable service.

Erich Jonah is as flamboyant and expressive with his art as his outfits. Since beginning tattooing in 2017 Erich has developed a true love for stylised blackwork, neo-traditional, and illustrative work. Erich also enjoys animal portraiture and anything a bit weird.

As an artist who likes to not only provide high quality work but also a safe environment for all, Erich is an unapologetic queer man that likes to express his experiences through his art and tattooing. Outside of the studio you will often find Erich pole dancing, which he has been doing for even longer than his tattooing, and which he performs, when time permits, across the UK.

Erich is an easy going professional who will always do everything possible to fully realise his customers ideas. He enjoys a good banter and likes to ensure that his customers have a great experience.

Chloe has been a body piercer for 15 years and a professional tattoo artist for 3.

She loves anything colourful and bold. If its magical, mystical, based in fantasy or just a bit odd, then Clo will be very excited to bring your ideas to life. Clo has a real passion for fantasy literature and will jump at any opportunity to interpret stories and characters into original tattoo art.

Clo is a professional body piercer that enjoys doing interesting and imaginative piercings, including ear curations and multiple piercing projects. She is constantly on the hunt for new and interesting body jewellery that will give her customers plenty of fun options to choose from.

Clo believes that everyone’s ideas deserve to be treated with respect and enthusiasm. It is really important to her that people feel comfortable, safe and able to be themselves while in the studio. She always goes out of her way to ensure that her customers leave with a smile on their face and loves nothing more than a good chinwag over a cuppa while discussing ideas.

Lia Lakshmi Chauhan is a 27-year-old tattoo artist originally born in East Yorkshire, England. With a heritage that is half Indian and half English, her background significantly influences her unique tattooing style. Lia specialises in black and grey, ornamental, mandalas, geometric, blackwork, and fine-line tattoos.

Lia has always had a passion for art and found the perfect outlet for her creativity within tattooing. She draws inspiration from many aspects of her cultural heritage and likes to experiment with different ideas and styles to create original tattoos which are both beautiful and unique.

Over the last 8 years Lia has constantly strived to evolve her artwork and to provide the best service possible to her customers. She will always go that extra mile to perfect her designs and takes great pride in giving her customers the best possible experience.
